India bowled Pakistan out for their lowest-ever total in women’s T20Is, 55, in the Asia Cup clash on Saturday (September 5). Although the pitch at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium was favorable for bowlers, the Fatima Sana-led team were 27/0 at one stage and lost their entire batting order for 28 runs.

The collapse was triggered when, after the brief opening stand, Harmanpreet Kaur recognised the turn available and introduced spin. Pakistan lost six wickets for only nine runs to slump to 36/6 by the end of the 10th over.
Prema Rawat and part-timer Shafali Verma set the tone by attacking the stumps rather than relying heavily on turn. Rawat struck first among the frontline spinners, finishing with
excellent figures of 3/9 from four overs. Shafali conceded only 10 runs from her three overs, maintaining relentless pressure.
Left-arm spinner Shree Charani then ripped through Pakistan’s middle order. She first dismissed Gull Feroza, who attempted to hit against the turn and was caught at short third. Charani then trapped Shawaal Zulfiqar lbw after the batter missed a sweep. Ayesha Zafar, trying to break the mounting pressure, also fell cheaply after top-edging a delivery for an easy catch to Harmanpreet at mid-on. Charani completed a brilliant spell with 3/7.
The senior-most tweaker, Deepti Sharma, joined the rout, claiming two wickets for just five runs in 3.1 overs. She took the crucial wicket of Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, who was trapped plumb in front.
Pakistan’s lower order offered little resistance. Eyman Fatima was run out following a disastrous mix-up with Umm-e-Hani, who herself later fell attempting an ill-judged sweep.
