Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has come out in support of Ranveer Singh amid the controversy surrounding his Don 3 exit. Recently, RGV took to his X handle and penned down a long note slamming the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) for issuing a non-cooperative directive against Singh. The director claimed that the ‘so-called ban’ will eventually become a ‘big fat joke’ on the federation. He called the film body outdated and claimed that they are desperately trying to hold on to the grip now.
“FWICE is neither a court of legal justice nor a government-authorised regulatory body, and at best it’s a kangaroo court, which by definition pretends to deliver justice, but in actual fact it disregards established legal rule, due process and impartiality.
That is because the verdict is often decided in advance by a group of a specific agenda oriented people meeting privately including actors who are scared shitless with the mega success of @RanveerOfficial in Dhurandhar,” RGV wrote.
The filmmaker further suggested that the matter must be best resolved between Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh. He also claimed that the issue is being hyped because a lot of producers will come forward for Don 3 if Ranveer agrees to come on board, especially after the success of Don 3.
BAN “FWICE” and not @RanveerOfficial
The so called “BAN” or non co operation in the style of Gandhiji , will eventually become a BIG FAT JOKE on FWICE
This isn’t industry or worker protection, like they are claiming. It is just a pure performative muscle flexing , by an…

“Here we arrive at the main point that everyone in their heart knows including the disputing company, and for that matter even FWICE , that If @RanveerOfficial simply nods a yes , there will be a one kilometre long queue of producers outside his house tomorrow morning with cheques ready,” he wrote.
“It is stars like @RanveerOfficial who sell tickets at the theatres and not FWICE. It is stars like @RanveerOfficial who create employment to those lakhs of FWICE workers and not FWICE. It is only because stars like @RanveerOfficial exist , that the industry exists , and also the FWICE exists. So in a summation , here is my unsolicited advise to all concerned Let’s not poke our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between 2 parties 🙏(sic),” he concluded.
Don 3 Controversy
The fallout between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar over Don 3 has become one of Bollywood’s biggest controversies. What initially appeared to be a routine casting change has now escalated into a legal matter, with Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment demanding Rs 45 crore in compensation and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issuing a non-cooperation directive against the actor.
According to multiple online reports, Singh exited the film due to creative differences with the makers. Several reports also suggested that Ranveer was unhappy with repeated delays in production and the absence of a locked final script.
After his exit from the film, Farhan Akhtar contacted FWICE. The film body issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh on May 25.
Following the ban, Singh’s spokesperson also issued a statement and said that the actor does not wish to add to the speculation around the matter and believes such professional disagreements are best handled privately. “Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect,” a part of the statement read.
