The NEET UG 2026 paper leak investigation has intensified with Rajasthan Police now focusing on two brothers from Jaipur Rural district who are suspected of playing a crucial role in the circulation of the leaked examination paper.
The case pertains to the May 3 medical entrance examination, which was later cancelled amid serious allegations of malpractice and the circulation of leaked question papers.
According to police sources, Dinesh Biwal and Mangilal, residents of Jamwaramgarh in Jaipur Rural, are among the central figures being questioned in connection with the case. Investigators believe the duo allegedly obtained the leaked paper and helped distribute it through a larger network operating across Rajasthan.
The investigation first gained
momentum in Sikar, Rajasthan’s prominent coaching hub, after police questioned Rakesh Mandwaria, who runs RK Consultancy, a career guidance centre in the city.
Officials suspect the consultancy became one of the main points from where the alleged “guess paper” was circulated among NEET aspirants before the examination.
Police sources claimed that during questioning, Mandwaria admitted to purchasing the paper from Dinesh and Mangilal for Rs 15 lakh. The document allegedly spread among students in Sikar before eventually reaching a whistleblower, who informed the National Testing Agency (NTA), triggering a larger nationwide probe.
Investigators revealed that Dinesh and Mangilal, who are property dealers with farming backgrounds, are also under scrutiny because several children from their family have appeared for NEET examinations since 2024, according to NDTV.
Police said Dinesh’s son, Rishi, had been preparing for the exam at a coaching institute in Sikar, prompting Dinesh to frequently travel between Sikar and Jamwaramgarh.
Authorities also noted that four of Mangilal’s children appeared for NEET in 2024, although family members maintained that only two cleared the examination and that too with low scores.
The investigation reportedly took a major turn after the brothers were questioned based on information provided by Mandwaria. Police sources alleged that Dinesh and Mangilal confessed to acquiring the leaked paper from Yash Yadav, an Ayurvedic medicine student based in Gurugram, Haryana. Investigators believe the paper was purchased for an amount estimated between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.
Sources further stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now conducting face-to-face interrogations involving Yash Yadav and the two brothers in an attempt to verify statements and establish the chain of transactions.
Police also claimed that Yash Yadav had earlier been linked to cheating and paper leak activities, and investigators are probing whether he had any role in the NEET 2024 paper leak case as well. However, officials clarified that these allegations are still under investigation.
According to investigators, after allegedly obtaining the paper, the brothers may have attempted to profit from it by selling it onward to Rakesh Mandwaria. Police suspect the paper was later circulated among candidates for amounts ranging between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh.
Officials are also examining whether the alleged leak was procured to help Dinesh Biwal’s son, who appeared for the NEET UG 2026 examination.
Meanwhile, family members of the accused have denied all allegations. During a visit by NDTV to the family’s residence in Jamwaramgarh, relatives described the case as a conspiracy.
Rajni, wife of Dinesh Biwal, claimed that her son Rishi had not returned home since Monday. Sonu, wife of Mangilal, said that only two out of her four children who appeared for NEET in 2024 had qualified, and even those scores were low.
The controversy has also sparked strong reactions online, especially on the Reddit community “r/india”, where users expressed anger, disbelief, and frustration over the alleged scam.
“If they had just been patient enough they could have gotten the paper for free after exams,” said one user.
“So one of the brother bought it for 30 lakh for his son and four children from the same family cleared NEET last year as well, which could point out that it’s not the first time these brother went out for shopping questions paper. But the price seems apt like for the leaked paper, speaking from experience its usually a well do to guy that arrange such services and it’s offered to well to do clients as well,” commented another.
“Only 30 lakhs, they are not the main party in these, it would be a multi crores business for sure,” a third user wrote. Replying to this, another user added, “Taking out rotting leaves won’t save the forest it’s soil that breeding poisonous trees.”
“Kill those bastards and set an example ! They played with years of hardwork of so many students,” another comment read.
“Man it’s actually cheap, Management seats go for well above 50-60lakh in my state,” another user remarked.
“Human rights are absolute,” wrote another user.
