Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 13 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, Pinarayi Vijayan, on Saturday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned Indian shooter and coach Jaspal Rana.
In a post on X, Vijayan described Rana as one of India’s finest sporting icons whose contributions as a champion shooter and mentor enriched Indian sports immensely.
“Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Jaspal Rana, one of India’s finest sporting icons. His remarkable achievements as a champion shooter and his dedicated efforts in nurturing future generations enriched Indian sports immeasurably,” the CPI(M) veteran said.
He said Rana’s legacy would continue to inspire countless young sportspersons across the country and conveyed heartfelt condolences
to his family and friends.
Rana, 49, who brought laurels to the country through his achievements as an elite shooter and later played a key role in nurturing young talent as a coach, died on Friday due to heart-related complications. PTI LGK ROH
