Police have said the three minor sisters, who fell to their death from the ninth floor of a residential building in Ghaziabad early on Wednesday, were “highly obsessed” with Korean culture and thought they were “Korean princesses” and not Indian citizens.
According to police officials, the siblings’ obsession with Korean culture was evident from the numerous notes found inside their room.
Identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12), the girls died after falling from the ninth floor of a residential building in the Loni area. The incident took place at 2.15 am while the rest of the family was asleep.
The police said the family had moved to this residential society three years ago, and they had not been going to school since the Covid-19
pandemic.
“These girls hadn’t been going to school for the past two or three years, and their family background and economic condition are currently being investigated. This is all part of the investigation…” said deputy commissioner of police, Trans-Hindon, Nimish Patil.

‘WE LOVE KOREAN CULTURE…BEING KEPT AWAY FROM IT’
Patil said the sisters were “clearly influenced by Korean culture”, a devotion that was meticulously documented in notes found at their residence.
The police said while the notes included apologies to the parents and caricatures of being “lonely” and “crying”, they also showed that the girls were obsessed with Korean songs, movies, cartoons, and YouTubers.
They said the notes hint at a growing rift between them and their parents regarding their interests, and that they felt restricted from fully embracing their passion for K-Pop and digital content.
“We love Korean culture…and we are being kept away from it. You tried to keep us away from Korean culture, now you must have realised how much we love it,” stated one of the notes, as per police.
The police further said they have obtained information about the games but there is no trace of any task-based game. While the girls did play online games, they were those available on Google PlayStore and not Korean games.
“According to the investigation so far, these three girls were influenced by Korean culture, including Korean cinema, Korean music, and some games. They were also generally addicted to their mobile phones. When their family restricted their mobile phone use, they took this step, leading to this incident… So far, the investigation has not revealed any facts about online gaming or the tasks given in those games,” Patil said.
‘FROM WHAT I SAW, ONE PLANNED TO JUMP’
An eyewitness account suggests that two of the girls fell while trying to save the third. Arun Kumar, a local resident who witnessed the fall around 2 am, said their deaths may not have been a planned jump as the police called it death by suicide after the preliminary probe.
“From what I saw, one of them planned to jump, and the others fell while trying to save her,” Kumar told reporters, describing the scene as “abnormal” as the sisters sat on the balcony glass before the sudden fall.
The girls were rushed to a 50-bed hospital following the incident but were declared dead on arrival.
