Several celebrities have taken to social media to express their grief and shock following Maharashtra leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s tragic demise. MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut also paid tribute and called it horrible news. The accident has sent shockwaves through both political and social circles across the state.
ANI shared the video in which Kangana Ranaut is seen coming for the session and she is shocked to know about the sudden demise of Ajit Pawar. “Oh my God. That’s horrible. This is such a horrible news. There are not enough words to express. Apne emotions ko align karke, I will give a statement later,” Kangana was heard saying in a video. Later, another video was shared and Kangana said, “”We are all in mourning
that such a major mishap occurred this morning. All of us are discussing in Parliament that many people travel by helicopter. So, instead of speaking such petty things at such a time, she should show a little restraint…” Earlier, Sanjay Dutt shared a photo of late leader Ajit Pawar and wrote, “Shocked and saddened by this tragic loss. He was one of the most dynamic leaders, leaving behind a lasting impact. My deepest condolences to the family and everyone affected. Prayers for strength and peace. Om Shanti.” Anupam Kher and Ajay Devgn also paid tribute to the leader.

Riteish Deshmukh reacts
Riteish Deshmukh shared his grief on social media with a caption about losing someone he respected. He also shared the politician’s photo with her late father, ex-CM of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh. “Deeply shocked and terribly heartbroken to learn that we have lost Ajit Dada in a tragic accident. One of Maharashtra’s most dynamic leaders, he had zero tolerance for non-performance and constantly pushed and inspired those around him to excel. He never minced his words, his wit was unmatched, and he was deeply loved across the state. His untimely demise leaves behind a huge loss and an irreplaceable void.”
Riteish went on to reflect on his personal memories of Pawar, touching on the kindness the leader showed him. He added, “I have had the pleasure of interacting with him numerous times, will always remember for the kindness he showered upon me. My deepest condolences to the Pawar family, his loved ones, and millions of supporters.”
About the tragic incident
A senior Maharashtra leader and the Deputy Chief Minister died in a plane crash on January 28, 2026. The chartered aircraft carrying Pawar crashed while attempting to land in Baramati, near Pune, with five people on board. All on board were killed in the accident, including Pawar and members of his team, as the plane caught fire upon impact. Emergency teams reached the site quickly, but unfortunately, there were no survivors.
Ajit Pawar was serving as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, a role he held since December 2024. Over decades, he had become one of the most seasoned leaders in the state, known for multiple terms in high office and significant influence within the Nationalist Congress Party before shifting political alliances.
