Lucknow, Jun 28 (PTI) Prayagraj, where mercury soared to 43.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday, was the hottest place in Uttar Pradesh, with Lucknow recording a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius, 3.6 notches above normal, the Meteorological department said.
The isolated parts of the state are very likely to witness a heat wave in the next 24 hours, the department said, adding that thunderstorms/lightning accompanied by gusty winds are very likely at isolated places over eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius, 3.6 notches above normal and a minimum of 27.8 degrees Celsius, it said, adding that Meerut recorded rainfall in traces.
Prayagraj, with 43.4 degrees Celsius, was the hottest place in the state,
followed by Agra, 42.6 degrees Celsius, Fatehpur, 42.4 degrees Celsius, Lakhimpur Kheri, 42 degrees Celsius, Orai, 41 degrees Celsius, Aligarh, 40.8 degrees Celsius, Varanasi, 40.5 degrees Celsius, the department said.
Hamirpur and Bareilly each recorded a high of 40.2 degrees Celsius, with Fatehgarh and Basti recording a high of 40 degrees Celsius each. PTI NAV SHS
