The US military on Monday said it intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting an American base in Kuwait late on Sunday, in a sharp escalation despite ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region.
US Central Command (Centcom) said in a post on X that the missiles were detected and destroyed shortly after being launched, and confirmed there were no personnel were injured in the incident.
“These missiles were immediately defeated and no American personnel were harmed. U.S. Central Command remains vigilant and will continue to protect our forces from Iranian aggression while supporting the ongoing ceasefire,” it added.

Iran has said it targeted a US air base in response to earlier US strikes on its military assets, while Kuwait said it came under fire despite a fragile ceasefire framework aimed at reducing hostilities.
