A comment made by the boxing champion during a conversation with fellow contestant Qazi Touqeer drew criticism online, prompting her team to issue a clarification and apologise if her words had been misunderstood.
The controversy began when Qazi was discussing other female sportspersons inside the Bigg Boss house. Mary interrupted the conversation and said, “Mere jaisa koi achieve nahi kiya (No one has achieved like me).” The remark quickly travelled outside the house, with several social media users criticising her for appearing to compare her accomplishments with those of other athletes.

criticism, Mary’s team released a statement clarifying that she had not intended to belittle another sportsperson or place her own career above anybody else’s.
“We apologise if Mary’s words were misunderstood. There was never any intention to demean or compare the journey with that of another athlete. Mary has immense respect for every athlete who represents India and gives their heart and soul to the sport,” the statement read.
Her team further stressed that sporting careers and accomplishments should not be measured against one another.
“Every journey is unique, every achievement matters, and every medal makes India proud (sic),” the statement added.
