Zayn Malik On Mistakes In Relationship With Gigi Hadid: ‘I Spoke To Other Females...’

Zayn Malik spent much of his teenage and early adult years in serious relationships. From the age of 17 to 27, he was rarely single. The One Direction alum’s last public relationship was with model Gigi Hadid, with whom he shares a daughter, Khai. After they split in 2021, reports surfaced alleging infidelity. Since then, this has been the longest stretch he has remained single.

Now, Zayn says he is comfortable in his own company and acknowledges past mistakes, admitting that he “spoke to other females when I shouldn’t have been.”

He says those years helped him learn and grow. At this stage of his life, he enjoys the freedom of not answering to anyone. He feels there is no guilt and no pressure. Zayn also shared that he is not afraid of being

alone. He likes his own space, his own thoughts and does not depend on a partner to feel complete.

Zayn Malik Admits ‘Cheating’ On Gigi Hadid

While appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Zayn Malik explained, “You tend to get in trouble in relationships because I was young and did certain things, spoke to other females when I shouldn’t have been, as most people do. You live and learn from it. But this way, there’s no guilt. I can just be free and speak to whoever I want, and, hopefully, if I meet somebody that I want to be serious with, I’ll have spent enough time in this place to know that I want to be with that person and be committed to them.”

“I don’t find being alone scary. I’m cool with myself,” he shared, adding that he enjoys his own thoughts and likes spending time by himself. He explained that he has never been someone who depends too much on others. Even with his parents, he said he loves and respects them, but does not feel the need to speak to them every single day. Talking about his past relationships, Zayn made it clear that he means no disrespect. For him, this phase feels “freeing.” Now, he can make plans whenever he wants, sleep and wake up at any hour, and even eat in bed.

Zayn Malik also spoke about his past relationship with Gigi Hadid, saying that when he was younger, he believed he was in love. But as he grew older, he started to question those feelings. He now thinks that what he felt back then may not have been real love, “Maybe it was lust.”

He made it clear that he still cares for Gigi and respects her, especially because she is the mother of their daughter. He said he will always have love for her as a person.

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid were in a relationship for almost six years before they decided to part ways in 2021. The former couple welcomed their daughter, Khai, in September 2020. They continue to co-parent their daughter.
