Nida Khan, accused in the alleged forced religious conversion case at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has been on the run for the past week, as per media reports, with police tracking her movements amid conflicting statements from her husband regarding her whereabouts.
Khan had been working at the TCS Nashik unit before being transferred to the company’s Mumbai offices in Malad and Hiranandani about two months ago. The transfer coincided with her husband, Moin Naveed Iqbal Khan, taking up a role as a logistics officer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Mumbra, Thane.
Following her name surfacing in the case, she was suspended from her job and allegedly went into hiding. Police questioned her husband on Friday, during which he stated
that Khan had left their home on April 14 and was staying with a relative, according to PTI.
However, when officers visited the relative’s residence, they found it locked. Both Khan’s and the relative’s mobile phones were also switched off at the time.
Sources later said that Khan’s husband informed police that her aunt, identified as Noorie Sheikh, had taken her to Nashik earlier this week. He further claimed that he does not currently know her exact location.
What Is The Case?
The case came to light after a woman employee at the TCS Nashik branch accused her colleague Danish Sheikh of entering into a physical relationship with her in 2022 on the false promise of marriage, despite already being married. Police reports state that Nida Khan, who is Danish Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made derogatory remarks about the complainant’s faith and pressured her to convert.
It is also alleged that Khan, along with another accused Tausif Akhtar, concealed from the complainant that Danish Sheikh was already married.
As the investigation progressed, seven additional women approached the police, alleging that they were subjected to mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues, while their complaints were overlooked by the human resources department. The incidents are reported to have occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.
Seven employees have been arrested, including six men and a woman HR head.
Khan, who is allegedly expecting her first child, was suspended from TCS on April 9. Her family said she is expecting her first child and has moved a local court in Nashik seeking anticipatory bail, with her medical condition likely cited as a key ground in the plea.
