Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna have unveiled the new track Bandhu 2.0 from their upcoming film Cocktail 2, and the launch has already grabbed attention for the cast’s playful banter while sharing the video. The music video begins with the trio—Shahid, Kriti, and Rashmika—watching the iconic song ‘Tumhi Ho Bandhu’ from the 2012 film Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. The nostalgic moment quickly turns into a lighthearted discussion about whether they should recreate the popular track in their own version.
Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon And Rashmika Mandanna Unveil Bandhu 2.0 Song
The music video of Bandhu 2.0 shows Kriti Sanon casually suggesting they should have attempted their version of the song for Cocktail 2, sparking a humorous exchange. Shahid Kapoor immediately
shuts down the idea, joking that it would invite unnecessary trolling. He went on to explain that recreating an already iconic song is risky in today’s social media environment. Kriti, however, argues that the original track is legendary and worth revisiting. Rashmika then adds a fresh perspective, imagining how the trio’s version of the song would look if performed by their characters—Ally, Kunal, and Diya. “But imagine how the song would look if Ally Kunal and Diya did it. Our version,” she says.
This leads into the launch of Bandhu 2.0, where the trio finally breaks into an energetic dance sequence, putting their own spin on the composition. The performance blends glamour, fun, and chemistry, showcasing their characters’ dynamic energy.
Bandhu 2.0 has been sung by Kavita Seth and Neeraj Shridhar, and has been composed by Pritam Chakraborty, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
Shahid Kapoor Says ‘We Killed It’
At the end of the shoot, Shahid declares confidently, “We killed it!” while Kriti jokingly reminds him that they might still get trolled. Shahid eventually concludes with a laugh, saying they should go ahead and release it regardless of online reactions.
The playful exchange and self-aware humour in the video have left fans in splits. “We can’t let a good thing go. #TrollAway #Bandhu2.0 Song Out Now!” wrote Kriti, while sharing the video.
Directed by Homi Adajania, the film will release in theatres on June 19.
