Ameesha Patel Claims That Her 400 Designer Bags Are ‘Like Kids’ To Her

Ameesha Patel’s love for the rarest designer bags is no secret. The actress revealed that she owns around 400 designer bags in a recent vlog with Farah Khan. Her collection includes exclusive Birkins, Dior, Chanel, Gucci and Hermès pieces, collectively worth crores. Now, she sat down for a podcast where she compared taking care of these bags to taking care of a child.

In a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, the Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actress also went on to open up about how she takes care of her bag.

Ameesha Patel’ obsession: Bags, Brands, and Birkin Talking about her bag collection, the Gadar actress revealed that she has been obsessed with luxury designer bags since childhood. Patel said she has had bags since she did not have kids. She

has been collecting bags since the age of 16, taking inspiration from her mother and aunts.

During the conversation, she compared her prized Birkin bags to the luxury car Rolls-Royce. When Ranveer asked, “What is a Birkin? How much does it cost?”

She said, “They’re the Rolls-Royce of all bags. It can start at Rs. 13 lakh or Rs. 15 lakh. I will tell you one interesting fact. When I want to sell Birkin’s bag, I can sell it for double. It’s almost like an investment.”

She went on to add that a Birkin can be given as collateral for a bank loan. “In Japan, if you want a bank loan, you can give a Birkin as collateral. That is the prestige of a Berkin,” she said.

Caring for Bags Like Caring for Babies
Ameesha further explained how she treats her bags like children and regularly maintains them to prevent fungus and leather damage. “I care for them a lot – airing, leather, wipes, leather polishing, I keep them in the sun and avoid fungus growing on them because Mumbai’s weather is so bad and humid and the worst for leather bags and shoes. Bachon ko jaise massage karke dhoop mein daalte hain, in the same way, you have to polish bags and keep them in sun. It’s a process. (Just like you put a child under the sun after a massage, in the same way you have to polish bags and keep them in the sun),” She said.

With cupboards exclusively housing Hermès, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton, Ameesha Patel’s home is no less than a high-end fashion museum.
