Ali Fazal has reacted to the buzz around Aamir Khan’s reported wedding with Gauri Spratt on July 5. The actor, who will next be seen in Aamir Khan Productions’ Batwara 1947, was asked if he would be attending the superstar’s intimate ceremony. While Ali did not confirm his presence, he wished Aamir the best for the new chapter in his life.
In a conversation with NDTV, Ali said that he may be busy with promotional commitments around the same time. “I don’t know yet. Let’s see. I guess, we will be busy with some promotional stuff at the time for Mirzapur. We are shooting some promotional things around that whole week and it’s not in Mumbai. I wish him all the best. He is my producer. He’s the person whom I always respected, looked up to. I am very
happy for this wonderful journey that he’s going into,” Ali said. Ali Fazal On Aamir Khan’s Wedding Buzz
Aamir Khan is reportedly set to marry his girlfriend Gauri Spratt in an intimate ceremony on July 5. The actor was previously married to Reena Dutta and later to Kiran Rao. Aamir and Gauri reportedly kept their relationship private for nearly 18 months before making it public around the actor’s 60th birthday last year.
Ali, who shares a professional association with Aamir through Batwara 1947, spoke warmly about the superstar. Calling Aamir his producer and someone he has always respected, Ali said he is happy for the journey the actor is stepping into.
However, he added that his own work commitments could come in the way of attending the ceremony. Ali said that promotional work for Mirzapur may keep him occupied during the same week, and the shoot is not expected to take place in Mumbai.
Ali Fazal On Being Reluctant To Do Raakh After Mirzapur
Ali Fazal is currently receiving attention for his latest show Raakh, which released last week. During the same conversation, the actor admitted that he was initially reluctant to take up the long-format project after Mirzapur.
“This was a big gamble to begin with. I was reluctant to do the show after Mirzapur,” Ali said.
Explaining why he hesitated, Ali shared that long-form storytelling demands a major investment of time and energy from an actor. He said, “Long form is a lot of invest in time. I am worried that I will get bored with myself. It’s very indulgent. It takes a lot out of you. But this was the story I had to be part of since I heard it. It’s very responsibly-told story. And there’s something I thought I would bring to the table. I always like when I can work on a character, there’s something left to the imagination. Everything is not said on paper. And in this case, my character is a sheer contrast to the big chaos happening on the show (the criminals).”
Ali said what eventually drew him to Raakh was the responsibility with which the story had been told. He also liked that his character did not spell everything out on paper and left room for interpretation. According to him, the role offered a contrast to the chaos unfolding around the criminals in the show.
Ali Fazal On His Character In Raakh
Talking about the details of his role, Ali said that his character in Raakh was not written with too much verbosity. Instead, the performance relied heavily on subtext.
“The idea was to do a lot with subtext,” Ali said.
The actor suggested that this made the role interesting for him, as it allowed him to explore the unsaid aspects of the character rather than depend entirely on dialogue.
Ali Fazal’s Upcoming Projects
Ali Fazal has a busy slate ahead. He will be seen in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Batwara 1947, produced by Aamir Khan Productions. The film features him in a pivotal role.
Apart from that, Ali will also be seen in Shakun Batra’s directorial for the next instalment of Netflix’s anthology Lust Stories. With Raakh, Mirzapur promotions and major upcoming projects in his lineup, Ali continues to balance long-format storytelling, mainstream cinema and character-driven roles.
For now, while it remains unclear whether he will attend Aamir Khan’s reported wedding, Ali’s message for the superstar was warm and respectful. He wished Aamir well and called him someone he has always looked up to.
