Veteran actor Satish Shah left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and television over a remarkable career spanning four decades. The presence of so many friends and colleagues at his prayer meet last evening
quietly reflected the deep love and respect he gained throughout his life.
The actor, who passed away at the age of 74, is survived by his wife, Madhu. During the prayer meet, singer Sonu Nigam paid a heartfelt tribute by performing the timeless melody Tere Mere Sapne, even encouraging Madhu to join him in singing a few lines.
Sonu Nigam performed his rendition of Mohammed Rafi’s classic Tere Mere Sapne. Satish Shah’s wife, Madhu, was seen softly humming along, joining the singer in honouring her late husband.
Reacting to the emotional video, a fan wrote, “So good to see the way we celebrate life.. after death also it’s the same way…what a life Satish ji must have lived,” while another person wrote, “This is too painful to watch. God please take care of her.”

Satish Shah’s funeral was held on Sunday at Mumbai’s Pawan Hans Crematorium, where friends, relatives, and coworkers gathered solemnly. On October 27, his loved ones gathered again for a prayer meeting, not only to grieve him, but also to recall the warmth, wit, and kindness he displayed both on and off screen. “In loving memory of our beloved Satish Shah. We gather to celebrate the life and creative spirit of a man whose life has touched hearts, inspired many minds and brought beauty to the film world,” JD Majethia wrote.

Satish Shah’s Work Life
Over the years, Satish Shah appeared in more than 250 films, showcasing his remarkable versatility across genres. He first rose to fame with his memorable performance as Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in Kundan Shah’s 1983 cult classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. He went on to deliver notable performances in films such as Shakti, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, and Om Shanti Om. On television, his portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai remains one of Indian television’s most iconic and beloved comedic roles.
