When Deepika Padukone Dreamed Of Three Kids, Ranveer Singh Said He Preferred A Daughter

That quiet dream has found its way back into the spotlight after the couple recently shared the news of expecting their second child. The announcement, made through a heartfelt Instagram post, featured their daughter Dua Singh Padukone holding a pregnancy test.

But this isn’t the first time the duo has opened up about their idea of family

life. In an earlier conversation with journalist Rajeev Masand, Deepika had spoken about what her life might have looked like outside films. Reflecting on her personal aspirations, she said, “If I was not an actor I don’t know what I would have been doing. But hopefully with some children around. Three little kids, scuttling about. Hopefully, be working enough to take them to shoots. Have a happy family. And at the same time, still doing what I am doing.”

Ranveer, on the other hand, has previously shared his own take on parenthood, expressing a soft corner for daughters. He had once remarked that he would “rather have a daughter,” adding, “They’re so much nicer, kinder..” — a sentiment that fans often revisit, especially now as the couple continues to expand their family.

The two first met on the sets of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and soon became one of Bollywood’s most loved pairs. After dating for several years, they got married in 2018 in an intimate ceremony in Italy.

In 2024, the couple surprised fans by announcing their first pregnancy, revealing that their baby would arrive in September. Later that year, they welcomed their daughter Dua, whose name—meaning “prayer”—added an emotional touch to their journey into parenthood.
