An old video of Muzammil Ibrahim from one of his interviews recently resurfaced, in which he spoke about his relationship with Deepika Padukone. Now, as the clip has gone viral on social media, with many assuming it is a fresh interview, Muzammil has put out a fresh statement addressing the now hot topic.
The clip from Siddharth Kannan’s interview has him saying that he left Deepika Padukone and has no regrets about leaving her. As many assumed that this was a fresh interview, Ibrahim, in his official statement, shared, “The interview being discussed and wrongly headlined as ‘fresh claims’ was recorded over a year ago. What is currently being circulated are a few moments from a much longer conversation.”
He further continued, “The hesitation, the context, and the respect with which certain topics were discussed are often lost in the editing process and when excerpts are viewed in isolation.”
Addressing the claims made in the interview, he wrote, “I have always tried to speak about people from my past with respect, and that remains unchanged.”
He concluded the note, writing, “Like many others, I have spent years focused on building my work and my life, and that is where I hope the conversation remains. I stand by speaking honestly, and I stand by doing so respectfully.”
What did Muzammil say?
“We dated for two years. I was the first guy she met in Bombay and vice versa. It was my first actual relationship. Deepika Padukone proposed to me first. We broke up because I left her, but I don’t regret it. I never regret leaving anyone. Plus, I was a star at that time; she was not. She was a model, but I had become an actor already,” he said in the old interview.
Following this, Ibrahim was asked if he remained in touch with Deepika later. To this, the Special Ops actor replied, “Before she got married, we would talk sometimes.” He shared that they became friendly after their breakup and would congratulate each other on their achievements. However, they lost touch after Deepika Padukone married Ranveer Singh.
Deepika Padukone married Ranveer Singh in November 2018. The two welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in September 2024. They are currently expecting their second child together.
