With the Bajrang Dal calling out for a nationwide protest on April 16 and 17, people have started gathering outside the TCS Nashik office to denounce alleged instances of sexual harassment and forced conversion.
Meanwhile, sources suggested that TCS has currently suspended its operations at its Nashik unit and has instructed employees to work from home and not to report to the campus.
In addition to this, the firm has also halted new recruitments at its Nashik unit.
According to information received from sources, recruitments have been suspended pending the completion of the police investigation.
The controversy that has unfolded in Nashik after eight female employees at the company’s Nashik office levelled allegations of sexual harassment and coercion
for religious conversion against their senior colleagues.
Responding to the issue, TCS on Sunday said it has long maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment or coercion, and confirmed that employees allegedly involved in sexual harassment at its Nashik office had been suspended.
“The Tata Group maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of coercion or misconduct by its employees,” the company’s statement said, adding that a thorough probe is underway to establish facts and identify all individuals responsible.
The National Commission for Women also on Wednesday said it has set up a fact-finding committee to probe the alleged incidents of sexual harassment of employees at a Tata Consultancy Services BPO unit in Nashik.
In a statement, the Commission said the panel will visit the facility on April 17 to conduct an on-the-spot inquiry, examine the circumstances leading to the incident and assess the response of the authorities.
