RR skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to field, putting Punjab in to bat. Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Arya came out all guns blazing, racing to 37 runs before Archer struck to dismiss Arya. Cooper Connolly walked in next and kept the momentum going, smashing 30 runs off just 14 balls before Yash Punja claimed his
first wicket.
Captain Shreyas Iyer then joined Prabhsimran at the crease, stabilising the innings. Prabhsimran continued his fine form, bringing up yet another half-century, but Punja struck again to remove him for 59 off 44 deliveries.
Burger chipped in with his only wicket of the match, sending Shreyas back for a 30-run knock off 27 balls. Marcus Stoinis then took charge, crafting an unbeaten 62 to guide Punjab Kings to a formidable total of 222/4 in their 20 overs.
Sooryavanshi opened the chase of 223 alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and the RR openers put the PBKS bowlers to the sword early as Sooryavanshi’s whirlwind took the partnership to 51 runs before the teenager was removed by Arshdeep.
Dhruv Jurel walked in to replace his fallen teammate and solidified the chase with Jaiswal for company as the duo too the side into triple-figures as early as the ninth over.
Yuzvendra Chahal removed Jurel for 16, before doubling down on his tally with the wicket of Jaiswal, who made a brilliant half-century before he succumbed. Chahal completed his three-fer with the removal of opposition skipper Parag to rattle the RR unit.
