The hearing has concluded, and a new update has come in the Allu Arjun Pushpa stampede case. As it was earlier reported that the actor would not be attending the hearing physically, Arjun became part of the proceedings virtually while his legal team went to represent him.
As per an update by ANI, the actor had obtained permission from the court to appear virtually. However, the matter has been posted for a later date, with the next hearing scheduled for July 6, after all the accused named in the chargesheet did not appear before the court.
“He will appear virtually before the Nampally Court after the court issued a summons requiring him to appear in person today. Allu Arjun had sought permission, citing his ongoing movie shoot in Mumbai,” Allu Arjun’s
lawyer told ANI.
Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Sandhya Theatre confirmed, “I am here to represent in crime number 376 of 2024 in PRC (Preliminary Related Case) 260 of 2026 from A1 to A10 (the theatre management and partners). Today is the appearance before the Magistrate at Nampally to file a committal bond.”
“But out of the 23 members (total accused listed in the police chargesheet), 21 or 22 have appeared; one or two are absent. That’s the reason it has been posted for July 6 for the next steps for the registration of the SC sessions case. For the next hearing, all 23 members together should appear before the court,” he added.
What Happened on December 4?
As per widely reported accounts, a tragic stampede occurred in Hyderabad during the premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule. Thousands of fans had gathered after actor Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre, leading to overcrowding and chaos. During the rush, a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, died due to suffocation, while her young son suffered serious injuries and was hospitalised.
Following the incident, police told PTI that neither the theatre management nor the actor had informed authorities about the visit in advance. A week after the incident, on December 13, 2024, Allu Arjun was arrested by Hyderabad City Police in connection with the case. However, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail later the same day.
Later, Allu Arjun was also named as an accused in the chargesheet filed by Hyderabad Police.
