Bhubaneswar/Berhampur, Jul 22 (PTI) A woman has tested positive for Covid-19 at MKCG Medical College Hospital at Berhampur, officials said on Wednesday.
A 54-year-old woman from Purushottampur block came to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here due to respiratory ailments. She tested positive for Covid-19 following an RT-PCR test in the microbiology department, officials said.
She is undergoing treatment in the infectious disease ward. Her condition is stated to be good, they said.
Sudeepa Das, Superintendent of the medical college and hospital, said there were no symptoms of Covid-19 in the patient, who is undergoing treatment here.
She was isolated as a precautionary measure; however, there was nothing to panic as viral flu cases were reported
due to the change of weather conditions, Das said, adding that the patient was infected with a very weak variant.
Santosh Mishra, special secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, visited the medical college and hospital in Berhampur on Wednesday and confirmed that a Covid patient was undergoing treatment.
“The patient is under isolation. The patient’s condition is good, and there is no need to panic,” said Mishra. He said no Covid cases had been reported from anywhere else in the state.
Meanwhile, in a press statement, the state Health department appealed to people not to panic. “Routine surveillance and standard clinical vigilance will be maintained, and the situation will be monitored closely as per the Government of India protocol,” it said. PTI COR BBM BBM RG
