Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan, which recently hit theatres, has struggled to connect with Hindi-speaking audiences at the box office. Despite being helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan, the crime thriller opened to modest numbers and failed to gain momentum over the weekend. As the Oppam remake continues to face a tough run in theatres, actor Mohit Raj, who has a supporting role in the film, took to Instagram with an emotional appeal to his friends and loved ones. He revealed that, so far, none of the people in his inner circle have watched Haiwaan, and urged them to show their support by catching the film in theatres.

Mohit Raj shared a video on his Instagram handle, expressing disappointment over the film’s poor reception.
He plays the role of Albert in the Priyadarshan starrer. In the video, he can be heard saying, “Haal hi mein release hui Haiwaan jismein Saif Ali Khan aur Akshay Kumar hai, usmein ek choti bhumika meri bhi hai. Main ek baat kehna chahungi. Uss film ko release hue chaar din ho chuke hai, par mere kisi bhi dost ne yeh movie nahi dekhi. Bada ajeeb sa lag raha hai, bura lag raha hai kyunki yeh voh log hai joh well-wishers bante hai aur kehte hai tere saath hai, support karte hai aur kal ko jab star ban jayega, hume bhulna mat.”
The actor went on to say that it took him 10 years in the industry to land a film as significant as Haiwaan, but he felt he had not received support from the people closest to him. Mohit added, “Toh bada bura sa lagta hai. Main asha karta hu ki please aap voh movie dekhiye. Bohot saare log nahi dekhenge, kam se kam humare joh apne hai, joh kareebi hai voh dekh le toh shayad mujhe support milega.”
Soon after he shared the video, Hanuman Ansh’s director, Vishal Chaturvedi, commented, “I will watch haiwan movie for you Mohit.” Even netizens were seen coming out in his support. One user wrote, “This is reality ! Don’t be sad bro . Don’t expect anything from your friend. Just be proud and those who is not your friends they will watch.” Another user wrote, “All the best and big congrats! Celebrate this no matter who sees it or not and keep moving ahead.”
Haiwaan opened in theatres on September 11 with an India net collection of Rs 3 crore. The film saw its earnings fall to Rs 2.50 crore on Day 2, followed by Rs 1.85 crore on Sunday. Its collection dropped further to Rs 70 lakh on Monday and remained unchanged on Tuesday. According to Sacnilk, Haiwaan has collected Rs 8.75 crore net in India and Rs 10.46 crore gross in the first five days of its theatrical run.
