Kathmandu, Jul 9 (PTI) Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava on Thursday called on Speaker of Nepal’s House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal and discussed issues of bilateral and mutual interest.
Speaker Aryal expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its support during the parliamentary elections held in Nepal in March.
Aryal recalled that relations between Nepal and India are based on common civilisation, geographical proximity, and socio-cultural ties.
He said that bilateral cooperation continues to expand through established mechanisms covering trade, security, civil aviation, water resources, and connectivity.
He said that the exchange of high-level visits has further reinforced the relations between the two countries.
Expansion of connectivity
through civil aviation, rail and bus services will further deepen the relations, he said.
The Speaker also said that he had extended an invitation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to visit Nepal.
Srivastava said that Speaker Birla was interested in visiting Nepal.
The Ambassador also invited the Speaker and members of parliament from Nepal to visit India to study and observe India’s parliamentary practices. PTI SBP ZH ZH
