New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday met his Ecuadorian counterpart Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero, who is on a three-day official visit to India, as the two leaders discussed ways to deepen bilateral ties in a range of areas, including trade, health, agriculture, digital and capacity building.
She also met Union Health Minister J P Nadda on day one of her visit on Wednesday.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “Pleased to welcome FM Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero of Ecuador, who is on her first visit to India. We discussed ways to deepen cooperation, including in trade, health, agriculture, digital and capacity building. Will cooperate closely in multilateral forums.” Gabriela, Ecuador’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
and Human Mobility, arrived in Delhi in the early hours on Wednesday.
“Warmly welcome Ms Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero of Ecuador on her arrival in New Delhi today. Her visit will further strengthen ties between India and Ecuador,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.
According to a media advisory issued by the MEA on Tuesday, the Ecuadorian foreign minister is scheduled to depart from New Delhi on May 1.
In a separate post, Jaishankar said that he delivered an address at the 11th Heads of Missions Conference in New Delhi, and asserted that “in a volatile and turbulent world, Indian diplomacy stands ready to advance national interest and secure national goals”.
“Addressed India’s High Commissioners, Ambassadors and senior MEA officials at the 11th Heads of Missions Conference in New Delhi. Our interaction recognised the significant expansion of India’s engagement with the world in the last decade.
“In a volatile and turbulent world, Indian diplomacy stands ready to advance national interest and secure national goals,” Jaishankar posted, sharing some photos of the event. PTI KND ARI
