Gurugram, Aug 29 (PTI) Four men have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a youth and threatening to kill him following a dispute over a road accident during overtaking, Gurugram police said on Saturday.
A motorcycle allegedly used in the assault has been recovered from the accused, while a video of the incident had also gone viral on social media, police said.
According to police, the incident took place on August 16 after the complainant’s uncle’s Scorpio collided with an unidentified truck near a petrol pump on Naurangpur Road.
Later, when the complainant and his friend took the Scorpio to a denting workshop in Sector 12, five to six men allegedly assaulted him and threatened to kill him, causing serious injuries, police said.
The complainant
approached police on August 22, following which a case was registered at Sector 14 police station.
The accused were arrested from Gurugram on Friday and identified as Praveen (23), Karan (24) and Ajay (23), all residents of Bar Gujjar village in Gurugram, and Vinod (26), a resident of Sarai village in Nuh district, police said.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that the complainant and his associates had abused Praveen’s father, who was driving the truck involved in the accident.
Praveen and his associates allegedly assaulted the complainant over the issue, police said.
The accused are employed as security guards and drivers with private companies, according to police.
The accused have been taken on one-day police remand and are being questioned, a police spokesperson said. PTI COR MDO MDO
