Akshay Kumar’s return to the Welcome franchise seems to be clicking with moviegoers. After enjoying a strong opening weekend, Welcome To The Jungle has managed to stay steady on its first weekday, giving the film another reason to celebrate at the box office.
According to trade website Sacnilk, the Ahmed Khan directorial collected ₹8.50 crore on its first Monday. While the numbers were naturally lower than Sunday’s collections, the film held up well despite the usual weekday dip and competition from other releases.
The film had opened with ₹15.25 crore on Friday, in addition to ₹3.75 crore earned through paid previews. It followed that up with ₹20 crore on Saturday and its biggest single-day collection so far, ₹24.75 crore, on Sunday. With Monday’s
earnings added, the film’s India net collection now stands at ₹72.25 crore, while its India gross has reached ₹85.67 crore.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome To The Jungle revolves around a bunch of gangsters, criminals and eccentric characters who unexpectedly find themselves in a jungle near the border. What starts off looking like a film shoot soon turns into a series of bizarre adventures packed with confusion, crime, action and plenty of comedy.
The film boasts one of the biggest ensemble casts in recent Bollywood history. It features Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani, Jackie Shroff, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Urvashi Rautela, Farida Jalal, Krushna Abhishek, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Vindu Dara Singh, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, late Pankaj Dheer, Puneet Issar, Kiku Sharda, Feroze Khan (Arjun), Sudesh Berry and Vrihi Kodvara.
Originally planned as a Christmas 2024 release, the film was pushed back after additional shooting schedules and extensive VFX work. The first shooting schedule wrapped up in May 2024, and by August that year, Ahmed Khan had revealed that around 70 per cent of the film had been completed. An international schedule in the UAE followed before the film finally arrived in theatres on June 26, 2026.
In its review, News18 Showsha described the film as an unapologetically loud entertainer. An excerpt from the review read, “This is a film that doesn’t make lofty promises. But what’s lofty is its scale. It’s peppered with vibrant visuals, expansive locations and lavish production design. Rather than holding back, it fully embraces its over-the-top comic universe, turning absurdity into one of its strengths. Ahmed’s vision of putting together a star-studded ensemble deserves a mention too.”
The review also pointed out that the film loses some steam because of its runtime and shifting genres. It noted, “However, Welcome To The Jungle comes with its own shortcomings. At 165 minutes, the film often starts testing your patience, particularly in the second half. Even though comedy continues to remain the heart of it, it gives way to action introducing a bunch of more characters. And it is this genre-blend that starts disrupting the pacing.”
Summing up the overall experience, the review concluded, “Welcome To The Jungle is chaotic, incoherent and sometimes, you also end up feeling that there’s no method to this madness. It’s loud, ludicrous and rattling, reminding you of the slapstick humour we frequently watched in the 1990s and the 2000s. But it’s this nostalgia and utter pandemonium that form the crux of this caper. It further believes in its CGI gorilla, nudging you to give in to its folly.”
Welcome To The Jungle is the third instalment in producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s popular comedy franchise. The series began with Welcome in 2007, followed by Welcome Back in 2015. Unlike the earlier films, the latest chapter takes a fresh route with a new story while retaining the franchise’s signature slapstick humour and larger-than-life comedy.
