BTS are officially set to return as a full group, and the scale of their comeback signals just how significant the moment is for fans worldwide. After nearly four years, the K-pop giants are reuniting with plans that go far beyond a standard album release, turning Seoul into a city-wide celebration of music, art and culture.
The album, set to release on March 20, marks BTS’ first full-length record since Proof in 2022. Featuring 14 tracks, ARIRANG explores themes of identity, separation, longing and reunion, ideas that closely reflect the group’s journey over the past few years.
BTS turns Seoul into big celebration
BigHit Music has confirmed that a large-scale project titled BTS THE CITY: ARIRANG SEOUL will run from March 20 to April 12, 2026.
The initiative will coincide with the launch of the group’s fifth studio album, ARIRANG, and will see major parts of the capital transformed into immersive experience zones inspired by BTS’ music and message.
As part of the celebrations, iconic Seoul landmarks such as Sungnyemun Gate and Seoul Tower will light up as large-scale media displays on the album’s release day. Public spaces across the city will host interactive installations blending digital art with Korean heritage. A listening lounge near the Han River at Yeouido Hangang Park will give fans a chance to experience the album together in an open, relaxed setting until March 22.
In April, several downtown locations will feature exhibition-style installations using light, video and text, bringing BTS lyrics to life across stone walls, stairways and tree-lined streets. The project is being developed in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, with additional collaborations planned across food, transport and tourism sectors.
Free concert
The release of the album will be followed by a special free concert, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG, scheduled for March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square. The performance will also be streamed globally on Netflix, allowing fans around the world to be part of the moment.
