A light-hearted post by an X user about Swiggy’s discounts has sparked a wave of reactions online, with netizens debating food delivery pricing, restaurant offers and whether the platform is really being “too generous.”

The discussion began after a user named Nalini Unagar shared that she had ordered eight samosas through Swiggy on a rainy day as she was craving something warm and comforting. According to her post, the entire order cost her just ₹104, leaving her pleasantly surprised by the price.

Sharing her experience, she jokingly suggested that if the food delivery platform continued offering such generous discounts, it could eventually run into financial trouble.

The now-viral post read, “Dear @Swiggy, I ordered 8 big samosas online because

it was raining. It cost me only ₹104. If you continue giving discounts like this, you will go bankrupt very soon.”

The post was accompanied by two images, one showing the plate of samosas and another displaying the order bill. Several users also noticed that the final bill included a ₹5 rain fee, along with applicable GST and other taxes.

As the post gained traction, social media users flooded the comments section with humorous takes, business explanations and criticism of food delivery pricing.

One user joked, “it’s better you pay that Rs100 discount back if you are so concerned about the financial of Swiggy 😂”

Another speculated about the reason behind the discounted price, writing, “The samosas were 5 days old . That’s why such a discount going , better then going to waste,” to which Nalini responded, “It tasted really good. It was hot and fresh.”

Some users pointed out that the discount may not have been funded by Swiggy itself. One comment read, “This discount is given by the restaurant, and not Swiggy. They still charge the commission from them.”

Others continued the banter, with one person saying, “Swiggy really sold 8 fat samosas for 104 and called it business, not charity.”

Not all reactions were positive. One user criticised the platform, writing, “@Swiggy and @SwiggyCares are experts in sending stale food and cheating customers. So, don’t worry they will not go bankrupt.”

Another commenter shifted the focus to health, saying, “Before going bankrupt you will soon end up at hospital! Not healthy at night time sister, please avoid!”

Meanwhile, another user argued that ordering directly from the shop would have been much cheaper. The comment read, “If you bought 8 samosas from the shop directly it’ll be less than 50 rupees.
