Television actor Dipika Kakar has been keeping fans closely updated about her health journey, but her latest update comes with a mix of emotion, anxiety and cautious optimism. In a recent vlog, she and husband Shoaib Ibrahim shared a very personal moment from her ongoing treatment routine.
The couple, who regularly document their lives on YouTube, spoke about Dipika’s latest monthly MRI scan, something her doctors have advised as part of her recovery plan following her cancer treatment. While the scan itself is routine, Dipika admitted the experience was far from easy this time.
Opening up about the moment, she said, “Ghabra rahi thi main… Main royi bhi; machine mein jaaney se pehle bhi royi, aur machine mein bhi royi. Kabhi kabhi rona bohot help
karta hain kyuki aapki anxiety nikal jaati hain. Mere liye toh bohot help karti hain (I was worried. I cried before entering the machine, while entering it. Crying really helps in taking out the anxiety). I think you come out stronger, so for me it works.” Shoaib added that this was the first time she managed to complete the scan in one go, expressing hope that everything would be fine.
The couple also shared that their hectic schedule over the past week has meant less time with their son, Ruhaan. In a small but sweet gesture, Shoaib surprised Dipika with a pair of sunglasses after she completed the scan.
Soon after, the MRI results came in, and the couple chose to discuss them openly with their viewers. Shoaib revealed, “MRI mein do chote-chote dots nikle hain iskey (Two small dots have appeared in the MRI).” Dipika explained that the spots are very small at this stage and, as per medical advice, immediate intervention is not required. However, she emphasised the need for close monitoring, adding, “Close scans karne hain, taaki aur agar dobara aata hain toh immediately treat kar diya jaaye (We need to continue the close scans so that we can treat it).” Shoaib further shared that Dipika is set to begin immunotherapy from this week.
Dipika’s recent health concerns come months after she underwent surgery for a stomach cyst on February 23. The actor has been battling stage 2 liver cancer and had a tumour removed in June 2025 as part of her treatment.
Over the past several months, Dipika has used her YouTube platform to candidly document her recovery, from chemotherapy sessions to the emotional ups and downs that come with the process. The couple’s regular updates have helped fans stay connected to her journey.
Known for playing Simar Bhardwaj in the long-running show Sasural Simar Ka, Dipika became a household name during its six-year run. She has also appeared in reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8 and Nach Baliye 8, and emerged as the winner of Bigg Boss 12. Most recently, she was seen on Celebrity MasterChef, which she had to exit due to health complications.
