With the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 approaching, tickets for the India-Pakistan game in Sri Lanka went on sale on Wednesday. The arch-rivals, placed in Group A, are scheduled to face each other on February
15 in Colombo.
The second phase of ticket sales for the upcoming mega event in India and Sri Lanka attracted massive interest from fans shortly after going live on Wednesday evening. The India vs Pakistan match was the main attraction, as it is one of the most sought-after games in world cricket. Thousands of fans logged on simultaneously to book their seats, leading to heavy traffic on the website and app.
According to PTI, the BookMyShow website crashed minutes after the second phase of ticket sales went live, overwhelmed by the high demand for the India-Pakistan clash in Colombo. This high-profile fixture in this phase triggered a surge in traffic, causing an unprecedented number of simultaneous login and purchase attempts, which led to the platform’s servers going down.
“Several users reported failed transactions and long waiting times. The volume of concurrent requests caused the platform’s servers to crash,” a source was quoted as saying by the agency.
The incident highlighted once again the enormous excitement and demand surrounding the India-Pakistan clash, which continues to draw unmatched attention from cricket fans worldwide.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held from February 7 to March 8. India will begin their campaign on February 7 against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Pakistan will face the Netherlands in the tournament opener in Colombo.
