Border 2 has had a tremendously amazing opening day, and word of mouth shows that the movie will hold a strong grip. As the Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh starrer continues to impress audiences, reports suggest that popular cinema chain MovieMax has taken the initiative and has already added new shows to the film.
As per Bollywood Hungama, MovieMax has added post-midnight shows from 1:20 am to even 3:00 am. It has also been noted that many other cinemas are adding new shows to their roster, considering the heavy footfall in theatres. PVR Sangam in Andheri East, Mumbai, has decided to add a 1:55 am show, while a theatre in Bhayander has added a show as early as 7:00 am. It has been said that as demand grows, more and more theatres will
add new shows. These late-night shows will continue to play not only on weekends but also on January 26, in honour of Republic Day.
Border 2 Beats Dhurandhar
With Rs 30 crore on its opening day, Border 2 has beaten even Ranveer Singh’s superhit movie, Dhurandhar. The Aditya Dhar directorial, which released in December 2025, had earned Rs 28 crore on its opening day. However, it should also be noted that Border 2 could not surpass Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which earned Rs 32 crore and Rs 40 crore, respectively.
Border 2 Review
As reported by Sacnilk, Border 2 has earned Rs 30 crore on its opening day in India. The film had an overall occupancy of 32.10 per cent in the Hindi market on Friday, January 23. News18 Showsha’s review of the movie reads, “Comparing it to Border (1997) is inevitable. The original felt raw and lived-in, powered by simplicity. Border 2 is more polished, louder, and far more ambitious. It doesn’t quite recreate the magic of the first, but it doesn’t disrespect it either. Instead, it feels like a modern extension, messier at times, broader in vision, but driven by the same emotional intent.”
“Border 2 isn’t perfect. It’s indulgent, occasionally overlong, and visually uneven in parts. But it’s also sincere, emotional, and unapologetically patriotic. It reminds you why war films still work, not because of explosions, but because of the people behind the uniforms,” it adds.
