Punjab Kings crushed Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs on Sunday, April 19, to secure their fifth win of the ongoing IPL 2026 season. In the fixture played at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, PBKS rode on half-centuries from Priyansh Arya (93 from 37 balls) and Cooper Connolly (87 from 46 balls) to post a total of 254/7 and then defend it by restricting the Rishabh Pant-led side to 200 for 5 in 20 overs.
The win over LSG in front of home fans was PBKS’ fifth win in six matches of IPL 2026, and with a total of 11 points, they continue to lead the points table. They have three more points than second-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (8 in six matches).
Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, remained 8th in the points
table. The side owned by Sanjiv Goenka and led by Rishabh Pant have 4 points to their credit from 6 matches played so far. They have won two and lost four matches.
Rajasthan Royals had a chance to extend their tally of points to 10 on Sunday afternoon, but the Riyan Parag-led side lost their match against Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 wickets at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They continue to remain third in the points table with 8 points from six matches. But after winning their first match of this year’s IPL, KKR are now 9th in the points table with 3 points in 7 matches.

Orange Cap
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen continues to lead the Orange Cap race in IPL 2026 with 283 runs in six matches, and the South African is followed by Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, who have scored 251 and 247 runs so far for Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, respectively. RR’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is up to fourth position now with 246 runs. He played a knock of 46 runs from 31 balls against KKR at Eden Gardens.
Following him is RCB skipper Rajat Patidar (230), and PBKS No. 3 batter Cooper Connolly is in 6th place now. The Australian left-handed batting all-rounder has extended his tally of runs to 223 after scoring 87 vs LSG. His PBKS teammates Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh are 9th and 10th in the Orange Cap leaderboard with 211 runs each.

Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Anshul Kamboj is leading the Purple Cap race in IPL 2026 with 13 wickets in six matches, and two bowlers – Prince Yadav of LSG and GT’s Prasidh Krishna – have 11 wickets each to their credit in this year’s IPL. They take the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar (10 wickets in six matches) takes 4th spot in the Purple Cap leaderboard and is followed by RR’s Ravi Bishnoi, who also has accounted for the dismissal of 10 batters so far in six matches.
Five bowlers – Jofra Archer, Krunal Pandya, Kartik Tyagi, Jamie Overton and Eshan Malinga – are in 6th to 10th positions with 8 wickets each.
