Harmanpreet Kaur entered her name in the history books on Tuesday (January 13) by becoming the first Indian to score 1000 runs in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The 36-year-old right-handed batter from Moga in Punjab, who was retained for Rs 2.50 crore by MI ahead of WPL 2026 mega auctions, needed 55 runs in the WPL 2026 match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants on Tuesday in Navi Mumbai to join the 1000-run club, and she achieved the objective during the 18th over of MI’s innings in the 193-run chase.
She slammed Rajeshwari Gayakwad for a four on the fifth ball to take her tally of runs to 1003.

30th WPL match on Tuesday, is also the first captain in WPL history to score 1000 runs. She is followed by Meg Lanning. Meg Lanning has played 29 WPL matches as captain so far for Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz and scored 996 runs.

The legendary Australian will be in action for UP Warriorz on Wednesday (January 14) against Delhi Capitals in Navi Mumbai.
Harman, who led Mumbai Indians to WPL titles in 2023 and 2025, scored an unbeaten half-century in their last WPL 2026 match as well. She walked out to bat at No. 4 for MI against Delhi Capitals on Saturday (January 10) in Navi Mumbai and remained unbeaten on 74 runs from 42 balls. In the fixture that MI won by 50 runs, Harman slammed 8 fours and 3 sixes for the Mumbai-based team and also bagged the Player Of The Match award.
