Swiss striker Breel Embolo netted the nation’s first ever penalty at the FIFA World Cup during their Group B opener against Qatar at San Franciso Bay Arena Stadium during the ongoing edition of the showpiece.
Embolo’s spot kick was the first ever Switzerland have been awarded in their 13 editions at the quadrennial spectacle.

The strike also proved to be Embolo’s third at the FIFA flagship event, putting him on level with Jacques Fatton, and Leopold Kielholz for Switzerland. Robert Ballaman and André Abegglen have netted four times at the showpiece for Rossocrociati, the iconic Xherdan Shaqiri has five WC goals and stands
only behind Josef HUgi, who has six goals for the Swiss at the WC.
