Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi will soon be seen in a courtroom drama, Haq. Ahead of its release, the makers have released its trailer, which has immediately impressed everyone. Filmmaker Aditya Dhar also couldn’t contain his excitement after watching the trailer. The director took to social media to share his excitement, calling his wife Yami a “star”.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Aditya Dhar shared the trailer and called Yami Gautam ‘My North Star’. Directed by Suparn S Varma, the film is inspired by the historic Shah Bano case, one of the most pivotal judgments in India’s legal history that ignited national debate on women’s rights and personal law.
Take a look here:
Haq Trailer:
Haq is a powerful courtroom drama that transcends legal boundaries
to explore larger questions of belief, equality, and the price of truth. The story follows Shazia, played by Yami Gautam, a woman whose pursuit of justice defies both the system and societal conventions. Her determination to stand against injustice sparks a nationwide conversation on women’s autonomy and faith. Emraan Hashmi portrays her husband — a lawyer and her unexpected adversary in court — whose ideological clash with Shazia becomes the emotional and intellectual centerpiece of the film. Their courtroom confrontations unfold not just as legal duels, but as deeply personal battles between conviction, love, and identity.
“It Takes Just One Voice To Make A Difference”: Yami Gautam
The trailer gives audiences a glimpse of an emotionally charged world — fierce exchanges, striking dialogues, and performances that balance vulnerability with defiance. Speaking at the launch event, Yami Gautam shared what drew her to the project, “This story moved me deeply. It’s not just Shazia’s fight — it’s a reflection of the strength and resilience of countless women who’ve been told to stay silent. This film is more than a role for me. It’s a reminder that it takes just one voice to make a difference.”
The Team Behind Haq
The film also stars Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain, Aseem Hattangady, and debutante Vartika Singh in significant roles. Based on journalist Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat Ki Beti, the film raises a fundamental question — can justice ever truly be separated from religion?
Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, Haq is slated to release in theatres on November 7, 2025. With its powerful premise, stellar cast, and emotional depth, Haq promises to be one of the year’s most compelling cinematic experiences.
