Comedian Sunil Grover has once again reminded audiences why his humour lands so sharply. In the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Grover slipped in a playful yet pointed joke that many viewers read as a sly dig at veteran actor and politician Jaya Bachchan. A clip from the episode has since gone viral, sparking amused reactions across social media.
Aamir Khan Act Steals the Show
The episode featured Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday as guests, but it was Sunil’s surprise entry—dressed and styled as Aamir Khan—that truly set the tone. Mimicking the superstar’s mannerisms with his usual finesse, Sunil had the studio audience laughing from the moment he stepped on stage.
The Paparazzi Moment That Went Viral
During his act, Sunil staged
a mock paparazzi interaction, striking poses while bantering with the photographers. Midway through, he casually remarked, “Kapde acche pehne hue hai tumne. Pant acchi hai aaj.” The line may have sounded harmless at first, but viewers quickly caught the subtext, interpreting it as a tongue-in-cheek reference to Jaya Bachchan’s recent comments about paparazzi attire.
The Context Behind the Joke
Just days earlier, Jaya Bachchan had stirred controversy during a conversation with Barkha Dutt at the We The Women event in Mumbai. Criticising paparazzi culture, the Rajya Sabha MP had taken a swipe at photographers for wearing “drainpipe-tight, gande pants” and questioned their upbringing and education. Her remarks divided public opinion, drawing both support and backlash online.
A Pattern Of Paparazzi Pushback
This isn’t the first time Jaya Bachchan has voiced her irritation with paparazzi. Over the years, she has frequently called out photographers for what she considers intrusive and disrespectful behaviour, often urging them to show restraint and decorum while covering public figures.
Sunil Grover’s quip, delivered with his trademark lightness, didn’t name anyone directly—but for many viewers, the reference was unmistakable. As always, the comedian managed to balance humour and commentary, letting the joke land without ever spelling it out.
