Shares of Eicher Motors gained over 3.5 per cent on Friday after its subsidiary Royal Enfield formally entered the electric mobility space with the launch of the Flying Flea C6, marking a significant strategic shift for the iconic mid-weight motorcycle maker.
Flying Flea C6 Marks Royal Enfield’s EV Debut
The Flying Flea C6 (FF.C6) is the first offering under Royal Enfield’s newly created electric vertical, Flying Flea, positioned as a city-focused mobility brand aimed at a new generation of riders.
The motorcycle is priced at Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom), while a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) option brings the effective cost down to Rs 1.99 lakh. It will be available in two colour options, Storm Black and Flea Green.
The company said bookings will open at 12 PM on April 10, with deliveries scheduled
to begin by the end of May. The rollout will follow a phased, city-by-city approach, starting with its first dedicated Flying Flea store in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar.
Performance, Features And Connectivity
The FF.C6 is powered by a 3.91 kWh battery and delivers a top speed of 115 km/h along with over 400 Nm of wheel torque, packed into a lightweight 124 kg frame.
Royal Enfield has equipped the motorcycle with a host of rider-focused technologies including lean-angle sensing ABS, traction control, tip-over alert, and live location sharing. It also features a TFT display, ride modes and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Connectivity remains a key highlight, with support for WiFi, Bluetooth and 4G, enabling remote monitoring and enhanced user experience.
Charging is designed to be flexible, with options ranging from rapid to standard and trickle charging via a universal wall outlet. The company claims a charging rate of roughly 1% per minute under optimal conditions.
‘Shaping The Future Of Riding’: Management
“We are not just introducing a motorcycle, we are shaping the future of riding and welcoming a new generation of riders into the world of Royal Enfield,” said B Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield.
He added that the company has a strong pipeline of electric two-wheelers that will continue to build on its long-term EV vision.
Innovation Visible But Refinement Needed, Says Nomura
Nomura has maintained a ‘neutral’ stance on Eicher Motors with a target price of Rs 7,827 per share, implying an upside of nearly 10% from the previous close.
The brokerage says the Flying Flea C6 brings multiple innovations, including a TFT display, ride modes, lean-angle ABS and OTA capabilities. However, it flagged that the product may require further refinement before achieving wider market adoption.
Nomura specifically pointed to areas such as battery performance, charging efficiency and rider comfort as aspects that need improvement.
Stock Performance And Street View
Shares of Eicher Motors rose about 1.5% to Rs 7,253 in early trade on Friday, even as the stock has declined 3.8% over the past month.
Street sentiment remains largely positive. Of the 40 analysts tracking the stock, 27 have a ‘buy’ rating, nine recommend ‘hold’, and four have a ‘sell’ call.
The Flying Flea C6 launch marks Royal Enfield’s long-awaited entry into the EV segment, but early brokerage commentary suggests that while the intent and innovation are clear, execution and refinement will be key to scaling adoption in India’s rapidly evolving electric two-wheeler market.
