Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) endured another disappointing outing at home as they failed to secure a win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, going down to Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 clash on Saturday.
Batting first, RCB posted 175/8 in their allotted 20 overs, a total that ultimately proved insufficient as DC chased it down with one ball to spare, sealing a six-wicket victory.
Kohli’s Masterclass
Virat Kohli, opening the innings, scored 19 off 13 deliveries, striking three boundaries at a brisk strike rate of over 146. Although his stay at the crease was brief, it reflected his increasingly aggressive approach in the IPL, a shift that has become more evident in recent seasons with a clear rise in his attacking intent.
Beyond his batting, Kohli remained
influential in the field. During a key moment in the match, he urged his team to opt for a DRS review against Pathum Nissanka off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling after the on-field umpire had given it not out. Videos showed Kohli miming the words, “out hai.” The review vindicated his confidence, with the decision overturned in RCB’s favour.

How DC Beat RCB?
RCB’s innings was anchored by Phil Salt, who produced a fluent knock of 63 off 38 balls to top-score for the side. However, the rest of the batting line-up struggled to build momentum as Delhi Capitals’ bowlers maintained tight control. Captain Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Lungi Ngidi were instrumental in restricting the hosts, each picking up two wickets with disciplined spells.
In response, Delhi Capitals relied on steady contributions from KL Rahul, who scored 57, and Tristan Stubbs, who remained unbeaten on 60. The chase was ultimately finished in thrilling fashion by David Miller, whose unbeaten 22 off 10 balls included two crucial sixes in the final over to seal the contest.
Despite the loss, Bhuvneshwar Kumar stood out for RCB with an impressive spell, finishing with figures of 3/26 in his four overs.
