Daryl Mitchell loves playing against England, and on Sunday (June 28), during Day 4 of the ongoing third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, he etched his name into the record books by registering the most 50-plus scores by a New Zealand batter against England in Test cricket.
The right-handed middle-order batter brought up a gritty half-century in the second session, taking his tally of 50-plus scores against England to 12. No other New Zealand batter has reached the 50-run mark as many times in Tests against England.
Mitchell now sits alone at the top of the list, ahead of Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson and John Wright, all of whom have recorded 11 scores of 50 or more against England in the longest format.
