Chandigarh, Sep 3 (PTI) A massive fire broke out at a mattress factory in Punjab’s Jalandhar district on Thursday, engulfing the unit located in the Basti Bawa Khel area in thick black smoke and flames, officials said.
The blaze was reported at around 9:15 am, following which five to six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control, a fire brigade official said.
Though the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, the official said, adding that there was no report of any casualty.
“Our teams immediately reached the site and brought the fire under control,” the official said.
The thick smoke engulfed the factory within minutes after the fire broke out, officials said.
