The Deol family is preparing a deeply personal tribute for what would have been Dharmendra’s 90th birth anniversary — a day that now arrives wrapped in both reverence and grief. Less than two weeks after
the legendary actor passed away at the age of 89, his family has chosen a gesture that mirrors the simplicity and warmth he was loved for: opening the doors of his cherished Khandala farmhouse to the fans who adored him for more than six decades.
Sunny and Bobby Deol to welcome fans at Dharmendra’s Khandala retreat
According to a Hindustan Times report, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol will spend the milestone day at their father’s Khandala estate, meeting admirers who wish to pay their respects. A source close to the family shared, “Sunny and Bobby have decided to visit their father’s farmhouse to honor his memory and legacy. While discussing their plans, they realized that many fans wished they had the chance to meet or see Dharmendra one last time. That’s why they’ve decided to open the farmhouse gates for fans who want to come, pay their respects, and meet the family.”
Preparations for the gathering have quietly begun, reflecting the Deols’ desire to keep the tribute intimate rather than ceremonial. As the source added, “It’s not that they’ve organised a special fan event or anything, but they have opened the doors for people who want to come in and honor their father’s legacy. As for arranging transport, they may consider it, since the route to the farmhouse isn’t easily accessible to everyone. However, that will depend on how many people plan to attend, which isn’t confirmed yet.”
The idea to welcome fans reportedly came after the family heard how many admirers regretted not being able to see Dharmendra one last time. Opening the farmhouse — the place where he found solace, wrote poetry, hosted friends, and nurtured his garden — felt like the most heartfelt way to let fans connect with his memory on what would have been his 90th birthday.
A series of quiet, dignified farewells
This gathering in Khandala is the latest in a series of solemn rituals the family has held since Dharmendra’s passing. His funeral took place in Mumbai, attended by close relatives and members of the film fraternity. Soon after, Sunny, Bobby, and Karan Deol travelled to Haridwar, where they immersed his ashes in the Ganges at Har Ki Pauri.
On November 27, the family hosted a prayer meet titled Celebration of Life, drawing notable personalities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Rekha, and Aishwarya Rai. Hema Malini held a separate prayer ceremony at her residence the same day, offering her own farewell to the man who shaped an era of Indian cinema.
Now, as Dharmendra’s 90th birth anniversary approaches, the Deol family turns once again toward the people who loved him most — his fans — inviting them to walk through the gates of his beloved farmhouse and remember him not just as a star, but as the gentle soul he was off-screen.
