An allegedly old video from a virtual hearing of the Gujarat High Court has resurfaced online and is once again going viral across social media platforms. The clip, reportedly from the COVID-19 era when courts had shifted to Zoom hearings, captures an awkward mic-on moment involving a lawyer during a live session.
In the video, the lawyer can allegedly be heard saying in Gujarati that his father’s open-heart surgery is underway and adds, “tell the judge to pass any order, I’ll get it changed in Supreme Court anyway.” The unexpected remark appears to leave many amused online, with users flooding social media with reactions and memes.
While many found the moment hilarious, others debated whether the comment was being taken out of context. Some users
argued that the lawyer may simply have meant that he would challenge the order legally in the Supreme Court through due process, and not that judgments can be casually overturned.
The clip has triggered a wave of reactions online, with many pointing out how virtual hearings during the pandemic often led to accidental mic mishaps and unfiltered moments. Several users also noted that the video is years old and questioned why it has suddenly resurfaced again.
The dangers of virtual hearings. One person joked, “Lawyer career ended right before his eyes the moment he realized his mic was on 😭”
Another commented, “Brother has balls of steel.”
“We deserve such transparency in legislative and judicial terms😂” quipped a user.
A different individual wrote, “his means, the hc judge can pass wrong judgements willingly ?”
“India is not for beginners,” remarked another person.
Someone else shared, “And we are expecting justice from these lawyers and judges. And remember, no punishment will be imposed on this lawyer. Just replace him with a litigant and then see the result.”
Another user pointed out, “This is a video that’s several years old… Why is it going viral now !!”
“With due respect, unnecessarily made viral. The man is in genuine difficulty, you cannot put motive on everything. ‘Getting changed’ from SC simply means he will file SLP against order & will plead his difficulty as well. Many occasion judges also says getting it done from SC,” another comment read.
One individual added, “Very old video. It was during COVID-19, when virtual hearings had just started.”
