'Our Leader Not Worried': Siddaramaiah Meets Rahul Gandhi After Congress-RJD's Bihar Poll Rout

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Saturday that Rahul Gandhi remains unfazed by the Congress-RJD alliance’s crushing defeat in the Bihar assembly polls.

Siddaramaiah, who met the Congress leader earlier in the day, said the discussion focused solely on the electoral setback and not on any organisational changes.

“Yes, I met Rahul Gandhi. We only discussed the Bihar election,” Siddaramaiah told reporters. “He’s our leader, so we encouraged him as there was a setback in the Bihar election. He said he’s not worried about it. We told him not to lose his spirit.”

Siddaramaiah also dismissed speculation around a possible cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka, clarifying that “there was no discussion about a cabinet reshuffle at all.”

He added that he is likely to meet the Prime Minister on Monday, “if I get an appointment.”

NDA Sweeps Bihar, Mahagathbandhan Sinks

The meeting comes a day after the National Democratic Alliance stormed to a sweeping victory in Bihar, securing 202 seats and leaving the Mahagathbandhan battered.

Friday’s results delivered one of the most emphatic mandates seen in the state in more than a decade.

The Opposition alliance suffered a dramatic collapse. The RJD won just 25 seats, the Congress slumped to 6, and the Left parties collectively managed only 3.

Smaller parties such as the BSP and IIP picked up one seat each, but the broader Opposition remained far from mounting any serious challenge.

Even Prashant Kishor’s much-discussed Jan Suraaj Party, touted by some as a possible disruptor, failed to open its account, an embarrassing blow for the political strategist-turned-leader who had predicted that JD(U) would struggle to cross 25 seats.
