New Delhi, Aug 31 (PTI) Registration of properties in Mumbai has increased 12 per cent in August to 12,580 units on strong housing demand in both primary and secondary markets, according to Knight Frank.
Real estate consultant Knight Frank India said Mumbai city, covering the area under BMC jurisdiction, witnessed registration of 12,580 units by 9.30 pm on Monday.
In August 2025, as many as 11,230 units were registered.
The findings are based on the data from the Maharashtra Department of Registrations and Stamps as analysed by Knight Frank India.
Knight Frank India CMD Shishir Baijal said, “Mumbai’s residential market continues to see healthy demand, with August 2026 projected to record the highest property registrations for the month in more than
14 years.” He noted that there is sustained homebuyer interest across the market. “As buyers become more discerning, well-located developments supported by quality infrastructure are likely to remain attractive. Mumbai’s economic depth, employment base and long-term investment appeal will continue to support residential demand,” Baijal added.
Jason Samuel, Managing Director of Mumbai-based realty firm House of Swamiraj, said Mumbai’s registration numbers indicate that the market’s momentum is being sustained over a longer period.
“The continued activity can be attributed to sustained end-user demand, improving buyer confidence and the continued preference for home ownership, particularly as buyers increasingly seek well-located, quality homes despite the city’s high property values,” he said, adding that the consistent pace of registrations reflects the depth of Mumbai’s housing market.
Samuel said the real estate industry should not focus only on launching projects but also on execution.
“There are viable projects that have remained stalled for years, with buyers and families continuing to wait for a resolution,” he said. PTI MJH SHM
