Veteran Nepali actor Sunil Thapa is no more. He passed away following a suspected heart attack in Kathmandu. He was 68. Apart from his stellar work in over 300 Nepali films, he was also known for his work in Hindi cinema. He was known for his work in Priyanka Chopra starrer Mary Kom, and was also seen in Raj and DK’s series ‘The Family Man season 3’ starring Manoj Bajpayee. Soon after the news of Sunil Thapa’s death surfaced, Manoj Bajpayee paid an emotional tribute to the veteran actor, cherishing their memories from the shoot of The Family Man 3.
Manoj Bajpayee Expresses Grief Over Sunil Thapa’s Death
On Saturday, Manoj Bajpayee took to his Instagram stories to share a post about Sunil Thapa’s demise. The news of the veteran actor’s death left
him heartbroken. Mourning his demise, Manoj Bajpayee wrote he is extremely saddened by the news of Sunil Thapa’s death, and that he will forever cherish their memories from The Family Man. “It’s so so sad! God bless your soul sir! My 3rd season TFM memories will live forever because of you!”, he wrote, along with red heart emojis. Take a look at his story below.
Sunil Thapa made a brief appearance in The Family Man season 3 in which he portrayed ‘David Khuzou’, a respected leader and MCA Chief in Nagaland.
Sunil Thapa’s Demise
According to The Kathmandu Post, Sunil Thapa passed away on Friday morning, while undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu, after his health suddenly deteriorated. He was reportedly brought in unconscious at the hospital, and an ECG performed at 7:44 am confirmed his death. Doctors believe cardiac arrest was the likely cause, however, an official medical report is still awaited. “He was unconscious when he was brought in. An ECG was done immediately, which confirmed his death,” a hospital source told the Kathmandu Post.
Before foraying into films, Thapa began his career as a model in Mumbai in the mid-1970s. He first stepped into the film industry with the Hindi movie Ek Duuje Ke Liye in 1981 and went on to appear in several Bollywood films such as Aaj Ki Awaaz, Manav Hatya, Albela. He also worked in the 2014 Bollywood film ‘Mary Kom’ starring Priyanka Chopra, in which he was seen as her coach Narjit Singh.
