IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar has been taken into custody by the Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the alleged Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Veterinary Officer recruitment scam, top police sources said.
Gangwar, who previously served as KPSC Controller of Examinations, was questioned extensively by investigators over two days before being taken into custody.
Gangwar Questioned Over Veterinary Officer Exam
Gangwar faced nearly 18 hours of questioning during the investigation. The interrogation continued until around midnight on Friday and resumed for another 10 hours on Saturday.
The CID questioned him about the Veterinary Officer recruitment examination and documents recovered from the KPSC headquarters.
Investigators are examining his alleged
role in the conduct of the examination and the irregularities suspected in the recruitment process.
According to police sources, Gangwar has now been taken into custody, with his formal arrest expected on Sunday morning.
Served As KPSC Exam Controller
Gangwar served as the Controller of Examinations at KPSC from February 2024 to March 2026. The Veterinary Officer recruitment examination was conducted during his tenure in the post.
He was subsequently transferred from KPSC and is currently serving as Director, MSME, in the Industries and Commerce Department.
His questioning comes as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the recruitment examination and documents recovered during the probe.
ED Searches Gangwar’s Premises
The development comes days after the Enforcement Directorate searched Gangwar’s residence in Bengaluru and premises linked to him in Bareilly.
The searches were carried out as part of the ED’s probe into alleged corruption and money laundering linked to the recruitment of 400 veterinary officers.
The Enforcement Directorate has also issued a notice to Gangwar as part of its investigation.
The ED probe and the Karnataka CID investigation are examining allegations linked to the recruitment process.
