New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) Two men, including the son of a businessman who had handed over Rs 44 lakh to a cash courier agent, have been arrested for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to rob the money in Delhi’s Shahdara area, police said on Friday.
Jitendra Kumar (52), a resident of Shastri Nagar, had collected Rs 44 lakh from Avdhesh Tiwari and was supposed to deliver the money to Raj Kumar.
Kumar told police that shortly after he left with the cash on his motorcycle, one person stopped his bike while another approached him.
The duo allegedly robbed his bag containing Rs 44 lakh and fled, following police registered a case of robbery and took up the investigation.
During the probe, police found that the robbery was allegedly planned by Tiwari’s son,
Prabhay Tiwari, who wanted to clear his debt with the money, officials said.
Police have arrested Prabhay Tiwari (26), a resident of MS Park, and his associate Sarab Tiwari alias Praful (21), a resident of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, they said, adding that further investigation was underway. PTI SSJ ARI ARI
