Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Badr Abdelatty, in New Delhi and lauded Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s role in the Gaza Peace Agreement, describing it as a vital step toward stability in the region.
During the meeting, Abdelatty briefed the Prime Minister on the outcomes of the first India–Egypt Strategic Dialogue, being held during his ongoing two-day visit to India.
The talks are aimed at reviewing progress under the strategic partnership and strengthening collaboration across key sectors.
“Pleased to receive Foreign Minister of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. Conveyed deep appreciation for my friend, President Sisi, for his crucial role in the Gaza Peace Agreement,” PM Modi wrote on X.
“India–Egypt Strategic Partnership continues to grow from strength to strength for the benefit of our people, our shared region, and humanity,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in areas such as trade, technology, energy, defence, and people-to-people exchanges.
He reiterated India’s commitment to deepening bilateral engagement and supporting Egypt’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in West Asia.
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Dr Abdelatty’s visit marks a significant step in advancing the India–Egypt Strategic Partnership, established during President Sisi’s State Visit to India in 2023.
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that the visit offers both sides “an opportunity to review progress in implementing the strategic partnership and to exchange views on regional and global developments.”
During his stay, the Egyptian Foreign Minister will also hold separate meetings with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, apart from his call on the Prime Minister.
The visit underscores the growing strategic convergence between New Delhi and Cairo on regional peace, trade cooperation, and multilateral engagement, said MEA.
