Ward No. 170 (L Ward) is one of the 227 wards of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India’s largest Municipal Corporation. This ward is reserved for Other Backward Class (Women) and has a total population of 51154, of which 2022 belong to the Scheduled Castes and 170 belong to the Scheduled Tribes.

The gazette notification for the BMC Ward No. 170 (L Ward) was issued on December 15, 2025 (Monday), the last date of scrutiny of nominations was December 31, 2025 (Wednesday) and the last date of withdrawal of nominations was January 2, 2026 (Friday). This ward voted on Thursday, January 15, 2026 and the counting of votes is happening on Friday, January 16, 2026.
LOCATION & EXTENT
The extent of the ward as published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette is as follows: A line starting from the Central Railway lines and S.G. Barve Road junction towards north up to the embankment wall of Ali Bilal Siddhi CHS Ltd. Along this embankment wall, proceeding westwards and then southwards up to the rear side of Building No. 1 to 9 of the said society, thence further southwards along the back side up to the Nallah (drain) behind the Police Colony Building; thence along the north side of the said Nallah towards west up to the Refinery Railway Line; thence along the west side of the Refinery Railway Line southwards up to the common boundary of ‘L’ and ‘M/West’ Ward (Eastern Expressway); thence westwards along the northern side of the said common boundary, and southwards along the western side up to the common boundary (ditch) of ‘L’ and ‘F/North’ Ward; thence westwards along the northern side of the said boundary across the Eastern Express Highway up to Patil Gali; thence northwards along the eastern side of V.N. Purav Marg up to Vijay Patil Road; thence northwards along the eastern side of Vijay Patil Road up to Haji Karamat Ali Road; thence northwards along the eastern side of Haji Karamat Ali Road up to the Central Railway Lines; thence northwards along the eastern side of Central Railway Lines up to S.G. Barve Road … i.e. the place of departure. The said Ward includes the major places/habitations/towns of Qureshi Nagar, Takshashi Nagar, Rahul Nagar, G.T.B. Nagar, Everad Nagar, Ekta Nagar, Marathi Vigyan Parishad as prominent localities/settlements. North – Ward No. 167 & 168 (Central Railway Lines) East – Ward No. 169 (S.G.Barve Road, Refinary Railway Line) South – Ward No. 155 & 173 (Common Boundary of ‘L’ and ‘F/N’ wards, Naala) West – Ward No. 171 (Patil Galli, Vijay Patil Road, Haji Karamat Ali Road)
PREVIOUS BMC ELECTION RESULT
The last Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections were held on February 21, 2017, in which Shiv Sena was the single largest party with 84 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 82 seats. Indian National Congress secured 31 seats, Nationalist Congress Party won nine, and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena won seven seats. Other parties included Samajwadi Party, which won six seats; the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen won two seats and the Akhil Bhartiya Sena won a single seat. Five Independent candidates also won seats in the election.
