An Indian travel influencer recently amazed netizens with some surprising insights about Singapore. In her video, she highlighted the city-state’s lush greenery, luxury shopping destinations, efficient public transport, safe neighbourhoods and most notably, its strong cultural and historical connections with India.
The influencer, Tanya Khanijow, kicked off her video by pointing out a fascinating detail: “This country is so green that even their buildings have trees inside,” before delving deeper into Singapore’s remarkable links with India.
Travel Influencer Reveals Singapore’s Deep-Rooted Connection with India
While describing the country, the influencer shared that Singapore is smaller than Mumbai in area and densely populated. “Sounds chaotic,
but instead there is clean air, water, and roads,” she shared.
Taking a look back at the country’s history, she shared that after Singapore’s independence, their leader got inspired by Kolkata and wanted the country to look like the Indian city. However, she continued to explain how Singapore’s public transportation has become extremely reliable compared to any Indian cities.
Talking about the country’s environment-first approach, she shared, “Buying cars is deliberately made difficult and expensive to avoid congestion. They burn up to 90% of all waste to make electricity with minimal pollution. And their water recycling is so advanced that NASA studied it for space missions.”
The influencer further continued that the diversity of the country surprised her the most. “They have a place called Little India, Haji Lane right next to it, and Tamil is one of their official languages,” she revealed.
Talking about the strict rules and regulations of the country, she shared that fines are extremely heavy and that littering or not flushing a public toilet could cost as much as a fancy dinner.
The influencer seemed to be in awe of the Singapore International Airport. Alongside showing the world’s largest indoor waterfall, she was amazed to see how trees were “casually” growing on the 5th floor.
